I just had a stock photo company contact me about using one of their photos on my website that had not been licensed from them. They want $1800 for the use of said photo. I informed them that the photo was incorporated in a template I had purchased from BoxedArt. They told me that I was liable for the unlicensed usage of that photo, because I was the end user. Sent many emails to BoxedArt about this and was totally ignored. The stock photo company is going to sue me.

In summary, I would not recommend BoxedArt to a friend.

I've tried to cancel for two years now. Wrote to them several times. They keep auto billing me even though i do not use their service. Their support people don't care and tell me its my problem. Be careful. I will NEVER recommend these people, never use their service.

I had a problem with an image in one of their templates and submitted 4 support tickets over a 32 day period and received no answer. 33 days after I had submitted my first support ticket they closed all 4 tickets with no reply. This is the worst support I have ever seen, absolutely non existent.

In summary, I would not recommend BoxedArt to a friend.

Boxedart has a clause somewhere in the terms of service when you sign up that allows for an automatic renewal after a year unless you cancel it with PayPal.
They only warn you ONE DAY before your subscription is due to expire. Most professional companies that rely on subscriptions will start warning you about 3 months in advance and they will make it very clear that the subscription will renew automatically if you take no action.

During the year that I was a member I downloaded about 16 items of which I used one - a web template. But it was so much work trying to figure out the logic behind the site's rules that I won't do it again.

In summary, I would not recommend BoxedArt to a friend.

I purchased a template from Boxedart and used it to build a website. A couple of years later I got a letter from a "Stock Image Company" (name withheld) demanding $2000 for a license violation of one of the images that was in the template. I turns out that the image in question is a "Rights Managed" image and can not be used in a template for re-sale. They also informed me that there was no record of Boxedart ever purchasing that image from them. So be careful using templates from Boxedart or you may be liable.

In summary, I would not recommend BoxedArt to a friend.
