Editor's Review:
DesignLoad offer a straight forward, no frills online repository of website templates, web templates, flash templates, dynamic templates and graphic works that can all be downloaded and modified according to your, or your clients’, requirements. With 12752 products (and counting) arranged into 69 categories (again; and counting), there is certainly a lot to choose from. We really appreciated being able to browse the categories and get a good look at the products before signing up to anything. Furthermore, DesignLoad’s features and prices are clear from the outset and very cheap to boot.
Although we did find many of the templates rather old fashioned and slightly basic, we soon realized that providing the best quality web templates is not the point of this website. Any web design professional will tell you that much of their work involves repetitive Flash template creation and getting lost under piles of PhotoShop layers. With DesignLoad’s templates, you won’t be designing your masterpiece website from scratch, but you will have access to a variety and range of simple templates which you can then modify according to your clients’ needs. To help you in this, DesignLoad offer a wide range of complementary resources such as animations, music loops and cartoons. As opposed to unique, ready to publish website templates, you’ll find a large collection of templates that are compatible with all the major editors including Dreamweaver, Frontpage and Homesite. Graphics can be modified with Adobe Photoshop and Flash products can be edited with Macromedia Flash MX.
We would not recommend DesignLoad to someone wanting to design their own website. True, elsewhere one template will cost you maybe $25 to which, in comparison, $50 for unlimited downloads is a bargain. But in our opinion, one good template that you like is worth far more than unlimited templates, none of which suit your needs. Especially if it will take you days to shape a basic template from DesignLoad into something you are satisfied with. Instead, we would recommend DesignLoad to web design professionals who simply don’t have time to design a new website from scratch every time. For your money’s worth you will get access to the biggest creative design repository in the world where you are likely to find resources useful to your day to day work at a low price.
